Srinagar

The twenty sixth edition of Bokaroo – a two day festival of children’s literature sponsored and hosted by DP Dhar Memorial Trust will be held at DPS Srinagar on Saturday.

The festival is aimed to inculcate in children the love of books and reading in a non-formal and fun way. The festival has been held all around the country for the past ten years and once in Malaysia, and twice in Kashmir before.

“The festival brings a host of people together with significant experience gathered from interacting with children all around the world. The 22 invited speakers will adopt diverse approaches ranging from dastaangoi, story reading from Pachakatha, drawing sessions, writing and craft workshops in one hour sessions to introduce students to joy of reading,” a statement issued by DPS said.

The festival has already received accolades at London Book Festival winning the International Award for excellence. “It is also corroborating with the Manchester Children’s Festival for the next year. The authors always note that children of the valley are extremely involved in the sessions which set them apart from most places. The previous enjoyable experiences of children promise to make it another successful instalment of the festival. The school wishes the festival all the joy and success.”
