SRINAGAR: Applications are now open for the Ashoka University Young India Fellowship (YIF) for the 2025-26 academic year, with the deadline for submission set for March 10, 2025.
This prestigious fellowship, launched in 2011, aims to cultivate socially conscious leaders and change-makers for the 21st century by offering a unique, multidisciplinary approach to education.
The YIF is a one-year, full-time residential postgraduate diploma in Liberal Studies that provides Fellows with an immersive and holistic learning experience. The programme encourages critical thinking, effective communication, and leadership skills, preparing participants to tackle complex societal challenges. Fellows are exposed to diverse areas of study, research, and practice, often helping them discover or refine their passions while developing a well-rounded worldview.
Each Fellow in the Class of 2026 will receive either partial or full financial support, ensuring that the fellowship is accessible to talented individuals from all walks of life. The program welcomes applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including final-year undergraduate students, working professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals taking gap years or preparing for competitive exams.
The fellowship is designed to provide a rigorous yet supportive environment where participants engage in multidisciplinary coursework, experiential learning, and critical inquiry. Through the Experiential Learning Module (ELM), Fellows collaborate on real-world projects with partner organisations, gaining hands-on experience in solving pertinent global issues. The programme also emphasises peer learning, mentorship, and the building of a lifelong alumni community committed to continuous growth.
Applicants should hold a recognised undergraduate degree or its equivalent in any discipline. Final-year students expected to complete their degree in the summer of 2025 are also eligible to apply. The selection process is rigorous and holistic, with the Class of 2026 expected to consist of approximately 100 outstanding individuals from India and abroad.
