SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday warned that Arab countries may become the next targets of United States and Israeli military action following the recent airstrikes on Iran.
Speaking amid rising regional tensions, Farooq Abdullah told reporters after a party meeting at Nawa-i-Subah that the silence of Middle Eastern Muslim nations over the US-Israel strikes on Iranian nuclear sites could make them vulnerable to similar attacks.
“If it is Iran today, tomorrow it could be them—and they must realize that,” Abdullah said, adding that the US “would try to destroy them as well, because they are silent”.
He also cautioned that any disruption in oil supply from the region could have economic consequences for India.
Abdullah dismissed suggestions that former US President Donald Trump would play any constructive role in resolving the crisis. Instead, he accused Trump of being complicit in the conflict.
His comments come days after US airstrikes, in coordination with Israel, targeted Iranian nuclear facilities, raising fears of wider instability in the Gulf region.
