SRINAGAR: Arco United FC defeated New JK United FC 4–2 in the first Eliminator of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League, securing their place in Qualifier 2. The high-voltage match, held in Srinagar on July 28, was part of a tournament powered by Athwas Hyundai and supported by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
The encounter was marked by attacking football, spirited challenges, and swift transitions, with Arco United emerging dominant through cohesive gameplay and clinical finishing. Despite strong resistance from New JK United, the margin of victory reflected Arco’s sharper execution and tactical depth.
The event gained further momentum at half-time with the arrival of several prominent dignitaries, including Shopian MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay, JK Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul, RTO Kashmir Qazi Irfan, and ARTO Srinagar Muazam. They lauded the organisers and praised the league’s role in nurturing local talent and energising the Valley’s football culture.
Individual brilliance was also recognised with awards distributed during the post-match felicitation ceremony. Kamran Hameed received the Khyber Cement Game Changer Award, Mohammad Uneeb was named the Khyber Cement Player of the Match, while Shoaib Haneef earned the Athwas Golden Moment Award. Nadeem Ali received the Events Emporio X Factor Excellence Award, and Qazim Naveed was adjudged the Kings Player of the Match.
The victory keeps Arco United’s hopes alive for a place in the grand finale. Their upcoming match in Qualifier 2 now becomes a crucial step toward championship contention.
