Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday identified militant killed in an encounter with government forces in Budgam’s Arizal village belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba(LeT) outfit.

The police spokesperson in a statement said militant killed during the intervening night of Saturday in central Kashmir’s Budgam village as Shafat Hussain Wani son of Mohammad Akbar Wani as a resident of Wagoora Baramulla.

“He was affiliated with LeT since April 2017,” the spokesperson said arms and ammunition, mobile phones, Rs 30000 have been recovered from the slain militant.

Locals said that Shafat, a BA, BED Student was active since one year, he was running a Kiryaan Shop in his native village before he joined militancy ranks, Shafat as per his family was in his 30’s and was working as a teacher in a private educational institute before joining militant ranks.
