Amid massive pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, thousands of people on Tuesday turned up for the funeral prayers of slain LeT militant  Shafat Hussian Wani at his native Wagoora village of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

During the funeral procession, people raised massive pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India protests. Emotional scenes were witnessed before and after the funeral prayers were held for Shafat in his native village of Wagoora.

People from adjoining areas thronged Wagoora early in the morning and participated in the funeral.

Coffin of Shafat was showered with petals and almonds amid pro-freedom sloganeering, reports reaching here said.

Earlier, forces were deployed in strength in and around Wagoora area to prevent any untoward incident.

Authorities also suspended the mobile Internet service in parts of Baramulla soon after Wani’s killing.
