SRINAGAR: The armies of India and Pakistan on Friday exchanged gunfire along Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir.

An official said that the Pakistani army started firing in Tangdhar and Panzgam area of Kupwara and the Indian army manning the fence also responded the firing strongly.

However, there were no immediate reports of any damage from either side.

Meanwhile, the armies of India and Pakistan also exchanged heavy gunfire in Gurez sector of Bandipora district and Uri sector of Baramulla.

Reports said that firing started in multiple locations including Bagtore area in Gurez and Hajipeer sector in Uri.

Reports said that the firing creating panic among the local populace in Izmerg, Bagtore areas, while residents were shifted to safer places.

“The cross border shelling is so intense that the people in far off villages were also hearing the sound of explosions,” they said.

Meanwhile, the firing was on when this report was filed.
