Srinagar based GOC Chinar Corps Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, Friday visited the Koyil Company of Awantipora BSF battalion.

Pertinently, suspected militants killed two and injured other two BSF personnel of the same battalion in an attack last week.

The General Officer took stock of the security arrangements of the area and was also briefed about the prevailing situation by the Commandant of the Battalion and PS Sandhu, Inspector General, BSF.

The Corps Commander thereafter interacted the BSF troops deployed at the base and complimented them for their high standards in carrying out the “important strategic task” of guarding the Awantipora Air Base.

According to statement, the GOC emphasised on the need for optimising the operational capability of the troops. Assuring the BSF of all support and assistance, General Saha emphasised on the need for professional and ethical conduct of security forces at all times.
