Army men in prayers at JAKLI

Srinagar based Indian Army’s 15 Corps – Chinar Corps – participated in Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at JAKLI Regimental Centre here.

Defence spokesperson, Col N N Joshi, in a statement issued here Thursday afternoon (12:43 pm) said that all the members of the Chinar Corps “joined the Awaam in celebrating” the auspicious day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

“The auspicious festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated by the Chinar Corps with traditional gaiety and the spirit of brotherhood in all parts of the Kashmir Valley,” the statement said. However, the statement did not mention the day when the Eid was celebrated.

Notably, Kashmir valley celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday.

“Keeping in spirit with local traditions, Eid Namaz was organised by Army all across the valley,” Col Joshi said.

Army offering Eid prayers

“In Srinagar, the main Eid prayers were held at the JAK LI Regimental Centre Rangreth where more than 800 soldiers participated,” he informed.

“The Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Satish Dua, joined the troops in the Eid prayers at the JAK LI Regimental Centre. He was accompanied by many senior officers,” Col Joshi added.

Speaking on the occasion, Col Joshi said, “the Chinar Corps Commander extolled the virtues of the holy month of Ramzan which culminates in the celebrations of Eid as it symbolizes the human spirit of selflessness, care, love and brotherhood.”

Extending his warm greetings to the Awaam of Kashmir, the entire uniformed community including the Army, Air Force, CAPF and JKP, the Chinar Corps Commander also reiterated the “Army’s resolve to stand by the Awaam in every adversity”.
