Rebutting the allegations that a youth from Sopore was tortured at the Pazilpora camp, Army Wednesday in a statement came out in defense of the accused Major.

Army spokesman claimed that on the Election Day, polling booths in Sopore came under intense stone pelting. He further said that Police and paramilitary personnel deployed there, finding themselves helpless requested for the help from Army. “Army unit under the command of Major Abishekh upon reaching the venue also came under the attack of stone pelters” the statement added.

Claiming to have proof of the involvement of youth, spokesman said “the incident video-graphed by army shows a youth, Mudasir as a main miscreant. Subsequently Mudasir accompanied by his uncle and two Sarpanchs was called to the Army camp for counseling.”

He further added that, “after proper counseling, the boy was let off.”
