Army personnel who got injured in the gunfight on Wednesday morning in Lolab forests in Kupwara succumbed to his injuries.

“The army personnel was seriously injured after the search party came under the heavy fire from the militants, the army man latter succumbed to his injuries,” army sources told to a local news agency, CNS.

According to reports troops of 31RR kilo force came under fire from militants in Warnah Lolab early in the morning at about 8:30 am. Reports revealed that army personnel Govind Singh got seriously injured and latter succumbed. Army sources say that exact number of militants present in the area is unknown as the area is under the cover of dense forests.

General Officer Commanding Kilo force Shard Chandra told CNS that operation is on to nab the militants.

According to sources Special Operation group of Jammu Kashmir police assisted by CRPF is conducting the search operation. 18 RR, 28 RR, 31 RR and 47 RR are participating in the ongoing search operation. According to sources the operation was still going on and reportedly the militants have fled the area after the initial onslaught.
