An army officer slipped into the Chinab river and drowned, the military said Friday.
Sources said that the incident took place Thursday night at Gobind Ghat at Akhnoor when Major DS Bhinder went to the river bank adding “accidentally he slipped and fell into the river.”
The officer, from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, was swept away by strong currents, they added.
