Army on Tuesday paid tribute to the soldier killed in a militant attack in Kakapora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.

Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt and all ranks paid homage to the slain soldier in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt in Srinagar, said a spokesman.

Sep Vikram Singh had sustained a bullet injury during an attack by militants on Kakapora Army camp on Sunday night.

“He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries,” said the spokesman.

“He belonged to Village Ladpur of Chhata Tehsil in Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife,” he said.

The mortal remains of the soldier were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours, he said.
