SRINAGAR: An Army porter was seriously injured after an anti-personnel mine exploded near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday, officials said.
The incident occurred around 11.30 am in a forward area of the Nowshera sector when Krishan Lal, a resident of Langar village, accidentally stepped on the mine while moving through the area, officials said.
The explosion severed his right foot, following which he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials said forward areas along the LoC are fitted with landmines as a security measure to prevent infiltration from across the border.
