The arrest of a Varsity student along with his father sparked protest at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora on Saturday.
Police during a nocturnal raid had arrested Mechanical Engineering student Tasaduq Rashid and his father. The father-son are lodged at police station Awantipora. Tasaduq according to police played a key role in organizing a protest against civilian killings at the Varsity.
Reports said that scores of a student at IUST assembled at the campus and demanded the immediate release of Tasaduq. The protesting students chanted anti-police and pro-freedom slogans.
The students warned that they will intensify their protest and will hit to roads in case Tasaduq who according to them is innocent is not released.
