Bar Association Islamabad on Monday held a protest march in Islamabad township against any efforts to abrogate article 35 A.

Scores of the lawyers associated with Islamabad’s Bar Association assembled outside the district court complex and marched towards the Lal Chowk point in order to register their protest.

The protest march led by Bar President Fayaz Ahmed Saudagar, later assembled holding placards which read “Save Article 35 A, save our identity”, “We are committed to safeguard Article 35 A”. Article 35A of the Indian Constitution is an article that empowers the Jammu and Kashmir state’s legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.
