Article 35-A: Won’t go against sentiments of people, says Rajnath

Srinagar

The union home minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that the union government will not go against the sentiments of the people of Kashmir. Singh was responding to a question on abrogation of article 35-A. “We will not go against sentiments of people. There are no issues left that is why such issues are being raised,” Singh told reporters in Srinagar.

He said the situation in Kashmir Valley has improved as compared to last year.

Alleging Pakistan of infiltrating militants into Kashmir, Singh said, “Pakistan should stop infiltrating terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.”

“I am willing to talk to anyone. I am inviting everyone who is willing to help us in resolving problems of Kashmir,” he added.

The union home minister said that five Cs form the basis for resolution of problems in Kashmir.

“Five Cs form basis for resolution of problems of Kashmir – compassion, communication, coexistence, confidence building and consistency,” he said.
