Train services remained suspended for the second successive day on Friday for “security reasons” in the Kashmir valley following shutdown call by Joint Resistance Leadership against attempts to abrogate Article 35A.

All trains will remain off tracks in the Kashmir valley today also, a railway official said.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north.

Similarly, all trains will remain suspended on Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir with Banihal in Jammu, he added.

The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown on Thursday and Friday across Kashmir against any move to weaken Article 35A.
