SRINAGAR: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Kupwara, has issued a final notice to dealers involved in the resale or purchase of registered vehicles without valid authorisation, warning of strict action in case of non-compliance.
According to the notice issued by the Motor Vehicles Department, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the action is being taken in pursuance of the orders of the Transport Commissioner, JK, vide Order No. TC/JK/4694-4704 dated November 24, 2025, and in accordance with CMVR Rules 55AA to 55H governing the trade of resale or purchase of registered vehicles.
The notice states that it has come to the attention of the department that a majority of such dealers operating in Kupwara district have failed to submit the prescribed application forms for registration till date.
“In this regard, a final opportunity of ten days with effect from February 3, 2026, is hereby provided to all such unregistered dealers to complete the registration process within the stipulated time,” the notice reads.
It further warns that failure to comply within the given timeframe will invite strict action. “In case of non-compliance, such establishments shall be seized without any further opportunity and legal action under relevant provisions of law shall also be initiated for violation of orders,” it adds.
