A brief spell of rains in the summer capital has brought respite from the scorching heat here on Thursday during the ongoing month of Ramadan. The unabated heat condition in valley was giving tough time to the people at large with the weathermen predicting no respite in the weather conditions during the past.
Meanwhile, the fresh showers of morning brought respite from the heat during the ongoing month when people pray for 16 hour long spell without water and food. “Almighty has really bestowed his mercy upon his people through these rains. It is Baraan-e-Rahmat,” said a senior citizen of Srinagar.
The state metrological department here stated that Jammu and Kashmir would witness from light to heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours. Srinagar recorded a maximum of 24.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 20.2 degrees Celsius. Dry weather coupled with four to five degrees above normal temperatures during the past few weeks had resulted in heat wave in the Valley, forcing people to use coolers and air-conditioners.
The metrological office said that temperatures would be around 29°C and 19°C respectively. For Jammu, it stated that moderate to heavy rain, thundershower. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 34°C and 24°C respectively. For Ladakh region, light rain and thundershower. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 30°C and 18°C respectively. The met office maintained that fairly widespread to wide spread Rain, thundershowers will occur till July 19 morning.
