Minister of State for Haj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi Wednesday informed the legislature that land measuring 96650 Kanals and 13 Marlas has been notified as Wakaf land in the State, of which 55014 Kanals and 16 marlas are in Kashmir province and 41635 Kanals and 17 Marlas in Jammu Province.
The Minister was replying to a question of Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, an official spokesperson said this evening.
The Minister informed that the revenue estimated by the Wakaf board during the year 2015-16 was Rs 2.86 crore and realized revenue is Rs 2.20 crore.
The Minister informed that Wakaf land in possession of Auqaf is 90653 Kanals and 1 Marla, while as 2710 Kanals and 16 marlas is under occupation of army and other paramilitary forces. He said that the Government Departments occupy 896 Kanals and 15 marlas and by Civilians is 2390 Kanals and 1 marla.
Syed Farooq Andrabi informed that the Government is actively pursuing with all concerned departments/agencies to either seek regularization of the occupied land or ensure its vacation.
