SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned for 15 minutes on Wednesday after disruptions erupted over reported remarks attributed to the Leader of Opposition, claiming that Pir Panjal does not exist.
The commotion broke out soon after Question Hour when Congress MLA Iftikhar Ahmad demanded an apology from BJP leader Sunil Sharma for the statement made during an interview with an online portal. His demand was supported by several legislators, including independents, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and minister Satish Sharma, but was strongly opposed by BJP members.
Despite repeated attempts by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather to restore order, heated exchanges continued, with some legislators moving towards the Well of the House.
The Speaker eventually adjourned the proceedings for 15 minutes.
