The J&K government on Tuesday detailed the implementation of Prime Minister’s Economic Package of Rs 80000 crore.

Replying to a question by MLA Khanyar Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for planning, development and monitoring informed the Legislative assembly that in health sector, Rs 4900 crore will be utilised. It includes creation of two AIIMS institutes at the cost of Rs 2000 crore each.

Similarly, for Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the government said that Rs 1458 crore will be utilised. The government said plan includes flood management of Jhelum River and its tributaries.

The government informed the assembly total of Rs 450 crore will be utilised in Home Department. This includes rehabilitation package of one time settlement of 36384 families from West Pakistan, Chhamb and enhanced rate of remuneration to SPOs from Rs 3000 per month to Rs 6000 per month.

The highest share of Rs 9608 crore in the package has been kept for Power Development Department (PDD). It includes money to be spent on pending projects under PMRP 2004, Srinagar Leh 200 KV line and two solar generation projects of 20 MW in Leh and Kargil.

The government also said that the total of Rs 42668 crore will be utilised by Public Works Department PWD. The projects that will be undertaken by PWD under this scheme includes Zojila tunnel which is coming up at Rs 909 crore; Bharat Mala Project of 105 km and Srinagar-Shopian-Qazigund two laning with major bridges.

For sectors like Tourism and Forests, total of Rs 2181 crore and Rs 60 crore will be utilised, said the government.

Similarly, for other departments like Urban Development-Rs 1873 Cr, agriculture Rs 529 crore will be utilised.

The government further informed that for Higher, Physical and Technical Education Departments, a total of Rs 2350 crore will be utilised. Rs 3278 crore will be utilised by Planning and Development Department. For relief and rehabilitation, Rs 4270 crore will be utilised.

For other sectors like Science and Technology, Industries and Rural development, a total of Rs 2100 crore, Rs 50 crore and Rs 250 crore will be utilised, the government added.

The PDP-BJP government also said that the previous NC-Congress government led by Omar Abdullah had submitted a proposal of Rs 43959.56 Crore to GoI. However, PM Narendra Modi announced Reconstruction Plan of Rs 80000 crore on November 07, 2015.
