The extension was granted through a voice vote after the motion was moved by Committee Chairman Justice Hasnain Masoodi, seeking additional time to finalise the panel’s findings.

The House observed that the committee required more time to assess works executed under the Jal Jeevan Mission across the Union Territory. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather said that while a major portion of the work has been completed, further time was needed as nearly 3,200 water supply schemes (WSSs) are under examination.

Earlier, several legislators, including Aijaz Jan, Sham Lal Sharma, Sajad Gani Lone, Mir Saifullah, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and Peerzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, raised concerns over the implementation of the scheme.

The members stressed the need to operationalise completed water supply schemes, release pending payments, and expedite unfinished works under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
