Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday said that investigations have been taken up in Islamabad militant attack.

Two cops, including an officer of JKP, were killed by suspected militants around 11 Am today. The unidentified fled the spot.

“2-3 unidentified gunmen attacked a police naka party at Bus Stand Islamabad,” Rural Development Minister, Ab Haq Khan, told the lower house of state legislature.

Opposition members led by Congress and later joined by BJP lawmakers had demanded speaker that the house should condemn the cop killings.

This was the second attack in last 24 hours in Islamabad district. On Friday afternoon, three BSF men were killed by suspected militants in Bijbehara area of the district.

“Two cops were injured who later succumbed to their injuries,” Khan added. “DGP and other top cops have reached the spot and after cordon, intense search operation is going on in the area.”

Khan said that investigations have been taken up in the incident.

Earlier, NC leader in the lower house and Khanyar lawmaker, A M Sagar, supported by other Opposition lawmakers, said, “the rise in militancy was due to unholy PDP-BJP alliance in J&K.”

The opposition members further said demanded response from the government over “the spurt in such attacks” ahead of the By-Polls. “What is government doing? CM is herself fighting elections from Islamabad and what was her administration doing when forces personnel are being killed?” NC’s Khanyar lawmaker A M Sagar asked.

Congress man Nawang Rigzin Jora took a jibe at BJP led Union government for “PM flying to Pakistan without any invitation and Pathankote attack”.
