BJP’s legislator, Ravinder Raina on Tuesday while participating in the discussion on GST in the lower house during the special session of the assembly started by paying tributes to the police personnel killed while performing duties in the State, including Feroz Dar, Ayub Pandith and Omar Fayaz.

“Let me at the outset pay glorious tributes to all slain policemen, army jawans and allthose who laid their lives serving the nation,” Raina said.

He was interrupted by firebrand lawmaker, Er Rasheed who told Raina: “What about the civilians.”

Raina continued his speech and while complimenting the Finance Minister for his efforts said that Dr Drabu’s contribution in this process is noteworthy. He said GST is a tax which benefits consumers, traders and economy of the state in big way. He emphasized for a constructive debate on pros and cons rather than diverting the debate by bringing up Article 370.

He said some vested interests have tried to give a notion that the new tax regime is endangering the State’s special position, which is totally incorrect. He said that this tax regime would be instrumental in preventing tax theft.

Raina said that Dr Drabu has worked extensively for GST with the union finance minister and his role is highly appreciable.

He said: “Last time I met Arun Jaitley in New Delhi, he mentioned Dr Drabu’s name four times,” Raina concluded while complimenting Drabu.
