MLA Wachi, Advocate Aijaz Mir, on Saturday urged the government to legalize Nepal route so that the militants returning from that route are benefited under the rehabilitation policy.

Mir was speaking on the grants to home and other departments.

“The Nepal route needs to be legalized as most of the ex-militants return from this route,” Mir stated.

He also said that these militants are made to visit police stations every day, “It should stop so that they live peaceful life as they are already facing social problems.”

“Wives of these militants who hail from Pakistan should also be given passport and permission so that they can return,” he said.

He also advocated that Armed Forces Special Power Act should be revoked from the areas where militancy has dipped considerably.

While referring to the recent uprising in the valley, he said, “General amnesty should be given to the first time stone pelters.”
