Incumbent Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed Monday forced Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu to apologize for his “insulting remarks” to the representative of Fruit Growers who had met him in connection with their demands at Srinagar some time back.

As soon as Dr Drabu got up to speak over discussion on grants on general budget, Er Rasheed disrupted his speech and asked him to apologize for “unacceptable and insulting remarks”, which he had attributed to representative of fruit growers, by saying that fruit growers take Kissan Credit Loans to get their daughters married.

Rasheed reminded Dr Drabu that he should not forget that he is the finance Minister of the state and people have every right to put forward their grievances. After arguments and counter arguments Dr. Drabu tendered an unconditional apology and withdrew his remarks on fruit growers.

Meanwhile, Rasheed also condemned the shelling by forces inside Bijbehara Hospital, which left several including Kashmir Life photojournalist injured.
