The government Tuesday made it clear that earlier jobs granted under SRO-43 to the next of the kin killed in militancy related cases was changed to SRO-199 in 2008.

This was stated by Minister in charge General Administration while replying to a query tabled by MLA Mohammad Khalil Bandh.

Under this shift, the government said, the new policy will have a choice for next of kin (NoK), either to accept a compensation of Rs 4 Lakh or a job. Earlier, under SRO-43 government job was provided to the next of the kin.

The government while terming the shift as “mandatory” due to the reasons that some of the NOKs were not eligible for the jobs. The government further said there was also dearth of jobs in Class IV, besides NOKs seeking jobs were huge in number.
