Stating that the refusal to admit the resolution in the state assembly, seeking return of parliament attack convict, Muhammad Afzal Guru’s body to his family, has exposed the ‘hypocrisy’ of the unionist political parties, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq accused them of following Delhi’s diktats and following its agenda in the state Assembly.

“The institution of State Assembly has been destroyed and has lost all political authority and credibility. It is not the constitution or the law that govern it, but is being used by New Delhi to stamp an authority on its agenda on Kashmir”, Mirwaiz said while talking to news agency KNS.

“Right since its establishment, decisions against Kashmiri’s interests have been taken and passed in the Assembly. They only discuss and pass those bills and resolutions which are backed by New Delhi”, the Mirwaiz claimed.

He said the rejection of resolution seeking return of Afzal Guru’s body was condemnable apart from being unconstitutional and illegal.

“This should serve as an eye opener to the people of valley who the political parties are trying to hoodwink through their deceitful tactics. They have been making tall claims of political power and power of democracy but now their crocodile tears have been exposed and their credibility lies shattered”, the Hurriyat Chairman said.

He said the mainstream politicians have turned Jammu and Kashmir into a ‘police state’. “They have handed over the state to police and in turn they do whatever they wish. The mainstream politicians have lost their credibility and morality”, he added.

He said the conditional resignation of PDP leader, Muzafar Hussain Beigh ‘was part of the same political drama which the mainstream parties play at the behest of New Delhi’. “They have no dignity or credibility of their own and only follow what they are instructed by Delhi. Such theatrical exhibitions are only aimed at deceiving people of the state”, he said and added that these political parties have continued to do so right from the inception.

“They say one thing here and another thing in Delhi. Where are their claims and crocodile tears today when the resolution was rejected in the Assembly”, he asked.

Pertinently, Independent MLA from north Kashmir’s Langate Constituency, Engineer Abdul Rashid had moved a resolution in the state Assembly seeking return of mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru to his family for proper burial in his homeland. Speaker of the state Assembly subsequently rejected the resolution after refusing to admit it in the house.
