What is this “monitoring” department? Wherefrom has it come? These are the questions, former Revenue Minister and PDP’s “straight-forward” Chadoora Lawmaker asked the Lower House of State legislature on Wednesday.

Question Hour of the current 2016-17 Budget Session is going on and Javaid Mustafa Mir, who lost his ministry in Ms Mehbooba Mufti led government, was furious with the “inadequate response” by the Power Ministry.

He wanted government to reveal “what it had done, so far, with regard to rehabilitation of farmers” whose land was utilised for Grid Station Nowbagh in his constituency.

When MoS Power, Syed Farooq Andrabi, failed to convince the firebrand Mir, Revenue Minister, Syed Basharat Bukhari intervened but to no avail.

Andrabi again stood to answer and told the house, “the issue is under the watch of Monitoring ministry.”

This further angered Mir, who yelled, “what is this Monitoring Ministry? Wherefrom has it come?”

Chadoora Lawmaker asked Opposition to answer him as they were seniors and held treasury benches before PDP-BJP.

“It is your government,” NC’s Khanyar Lawmaker, A M Sagar replied to Mir. “I don’t believe in hypocrisy nor diplomacy,” Mir retorted back.

“Don’t do politics with me; I want facts,” he told the house.

Mir observed that because he was MLA, he is answerable to his people.

Notably, charge of Planning, Development and Monitoring department is being held by Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti.
