Assets Worth Rs 40 Lakh Attached Under NDPS Act in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Anantnag on Tuesday attached properties valued at Rs 40 lakh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in separate drug trafficking cases.

“In the first case, linked to FIR No. 175/2022 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara, the residential property of Mohd Afzal Bhat, son of Sanaullah Bhat, resident of Moomin Danji, Bijbehara, was formally attached,” police said.

“In a related action, a Hyundai Creta vehicle bearing registration number JK02CX-6665, owned by Sabzar Ahmad Das, son of Nazir Ahmad Das of Wagihama Bijbehara, was seized in connection with FIR No. 102/2025 registered under Sections 8/20, 29, and 27-A of the NDPS Act at the same police station.”

Police said the combined value of the attached property and seized vehicle is estimated at Rs 40 lakh.

Authorities said the action is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and target proceeds from illicit narcotics trade. Police have urged the public to share information related to drug peddling to support the campaign against narcotics in the district.
