SRINAGAR: Minimum temperatures again fall in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday, with the summer capital Srinagar registering the coldest night of the season so far, a Met official said.

“The minimum temperatures dropped further across Jammu and Kashmir today. These temperatures are likely to drop further as the weather is likely to remain dry till December 23,” he said.

“As of now, we will have a white Christmas in both UTs (Chance of occurrence as of now 60%),” he added.

The minimum temperature recorded in the Srinagar city was minus 3.9 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest night so far, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in Kashmir recorded a low of minus 8.6 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded minus 3.9 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered minus 4.2, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 6.8 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 5.6, Banihal minus 2.5, Batote recorded minus 0.3 and Bhaderwah minus 1.5 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
