Authorities Disallow Geelani’s Party Foundation Day Function

Authorities disallowed Tehreek-i-Hurriyat (TeH) to hold its annual party day function. Syed Ali Geelani heads the pro-freedom group which is a constituent of Hurriyat (g).

Reports reaching here said that TeH had planned to observe its ‘Foundation Day’ program at its Hyderpora headquarter in uptown Srinagar which was allegedly disallowed by police.

The members and associates of the led by its Secretary General, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, are holding a silent sit-in protest near Hyderpora Jamia Masjid on Srinagar international airport road. Reports said that the protestors have blocked the road.

Some of the members are holding protest demonstration at TeH headquarter.

This is for the first time that Syed Ali Geelani was disallowed to hold ‘Foundation Day’ function of his party which was founded on August 07, 2004 after Geelani and his life time associate, Sehrai, parted ways with Jama’at-e-Islami.
