Auto Retail Sales in Jammu Kashmir Surge 36.72 Per Cent in May 2026: FADA

   

SRINAGAR: Automobile retail sales in Jammu and Kashmir registered a sharp growth of 36.72 per cent in May 2026, with total vehicle sales touching 19,799 units compared to 14,481 units sold during the corresponding month last year, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), JK, said.in a press statement issued here.

According to the data, the two-wheeler segment recorded sales of 10,634 units in May 2026 against 8,539 units in May 2025, registering a year-on-year growth of 24.53 per cent.

The three-wheeler category witnessed a growth of 47.16 per cent, with sales increasing to 1,401 units from 952 units during the same period last year.

Passenger vehicle sales registered one of the highest increases, growing by 60.65 per cent to reach 6,296 units in May 2026 compared to 3,919 units sold in May 2025.

Commercial vehicle sales also posted significant growth of 34.92 per cent, with 1,401 units sold against 736 units in the corresponding month last year.

The construction equipment segment recorded a growth of 70.97 per cent, with sales rising to 53 units from 31 units in May 2025.

Similarly, tractor sales increased by 38.82 per cent, reaching 422 units compared to 304 units sold during the same month last year.

Aggarwal said the automobile retail sector in Jammu and Kashmir continued its strong growth trajectory during May 2026, with all vehicle categories registering positive year-on-year growth.

He said the strong retail performance reflected growing consumer confidence, improving economic activity and positive market sentiment across Jammu and Kashmir.

“The broad-based growth across all vehicle categories is an encouraging sign for the automotive ecosystem,” Aggarwal said.
