A man was killed when a snow avalanche hit Uri area of Baramulla district, reports said on Friday.
A person namely Fatah Mohammad Mughal s/o Mutwali Mughal was hit by an avalanche last night at Gawas in Lachipora.
Station House Officer (SHO), Bijhama has confirmed the death of Mughal.
Mughal was trying to repair water supply line as they were not getting drinking water from last so many days due to heavy snow fall, local sources said.
They said that suddenly a snow avalanche came and took him away. Later he was rescued by locals but he couldn’t survive and succumbed soon.
Locals alleged that Mughal succumbed due to lack of medical facilities in the area.
Gawas is the last village in the upper hills of Lachipora area of Bijhama where a particular community of Mughals is residing.
