A boy has died and two others have been injured in an avalanche that struck Machil area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday morning.
The avalanche hit the Chuntiwari Balla area of Machil in the frontier district, resulting in on-spot death of a 15-year-old boy, reports said.
After the news spread in the area, all the locals and police rushed to the spot and retrieved the body, eyewitnesses said.
The injured boys were immediately taken to Machil hospital where from they were referred to Sub-district hospital Kupwara for further treatment.
The incident occurred when the three “Darsgah students” were on their way towards Madrassa Taleem-ul-Quran in the area, a local said.
The deceased was identified as Mehraj-u-din Khan (15) son of Bashir Ahmad of Katwara Machil and the injured were identified as Javid Ahmad Khan (14) son of Younis Khan of Khali Balla, Machil and Abdul Rashid Mir (14) son of Abdul Rehman of Chuntiwari Balla, Machil.
