Panic erupted in city centre Lal Chowk when police fired tear smoke shells and flash bang grenade on protesting Teachers of J&YK Education department.
J&K Teachers Forum had organized a protests demonstration on Saturday to press for their demands.
People ran helter-skelter as police used force and fired flash bangs.
“We thought it were grenade attacks,” a pedestrian said while running for safety.
The teachers later were bundled in police vans while they continued raising anti-establishment slogans.
