Gulmarg

In order to lessen the natural calamities in the most visited tourist destination of winter season, Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) organized a specialized avalanche preparedness training program for joint ski-patrol rescuers at Gulmarg on Monday.

The special training was imparted by Senior Scientist S C Bhan, Dy. Director General IMD, government of India and supported by Aamir Ali, Coordinator, Disaster Management, Kashmir.

As per statement the joint search and rescue ski patrol teams comprising of J&K Police, Tourism Deptt, Gulmarg Development Authority, YSS and Cable Car Project have been formed and they will be stationed at Gulmarg and Kongdoori, round the clock.

The rescue teams, comprising of well-trained skiers, are capable of dealing with any emergency, including avalanches. Pertinently, on the occasion of Christmas and New Year eve, various adventure sport activities like heli-skiing, ice-skating, snow-cycling, free-style ski, ski-touring and Gulmarg Global Derby run have been lined-up at Gulmarg, in collaboration with Pine Palace Resorts, GDA and Tourism Deptt, reads the statement.
