SRINAGAR: Authorities on Wednesday issued a low-danger avalanche warning for five districts in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of heavy snowfall in the region’s higher reaches.
The alert affects Doda, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban, with avalanches likely to occur at altitudes above 2,800 metres over the next 24 hours, officials said.
Residents and visitors have been advised to avoid avalanche-prone areas and adhere to official safety guidelines.
Most high-altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir have experienced moderate to heavy snowfall this week, raising concerns over potential avalanches.
