Militants Thursday made their presence felt during Rahul Gandhi’s visit to valley by killing two CRPF personnel at South Kashmir’s Awantipora town.

Hizbul Mujahideen and Ashuhada brigade militant outfits have claimed responsibility of the attack on CRPF.

According to reports received by KNS, security was tightened at South Kashmir during Rahul Gandhi’s visit. 130th CRPF Battalion was stationed on the Jammu Srinagar highway at Awantipora.  As the CRPF personnel were returing to their camp, some unidentified gunmen rapidly fired on them resulting into killing of two CRPF personnel Naresh Kuman and Mahesh Kumar.

After the incident police swung into action and cordoned the area and started the massive hunt for the militants.

Meanwhile in a telephonic statement, the Hizb operation spokesman Balig-ud-Din claimed responsibility of the attack.  Ashuhada Brigade spokesman Sami-ul-haq also in a statement to KNS claimed the responsibility of the attack.
