Huriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar farooq  while accusing the authorities over restrictions being imposed on  the Ashura processions, Thursday said that the government adopts double standards in valley over the religious matters.

Speaking in the seminar organized at Islamai Higher secondary School Rajouri Kadal by Nusrat-ul-Islam, Mirwaiz while paying tributes to Martyrs at Karbala, said that the notion must should be halted at the earliest in Valley that Imam Hussain (A.S) only belongs to one community of Kashmir. “Hussain belongs to all of us; he is our guide and inspiration to carry on our struggle against falsehood and injustice.”

The Mirwaiz further stated that Kashmir cannot be allowed to get divided on sectarian grounds and that the unity is the need of the hour in Muslim world including Kashmir.

While condemning the restrictions being imposed on the Ashura processions, the Mirwaiz said that if Amarnath Yatra make the authorities to remain on tenterhooks, why have they turned ‘blind eye’ towards such an important procession of the Muslims.  The Mirwaiz further appealed people to prioritize concept of unity in valley and that the mosques and shrines are the places where kashmiris could get united to face the world .

Aga Syed Hasan, Moulana Abaas Ansari, Professor Margoob Banihali Moulana ,Showkat Hussain Keng ,Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Moulana Khurshid Ahmad Qanungo spoke on the occasion and paid tributes to Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of  Karballa.
