The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday issued a statement regarding the killing of a man in Awantipora.
The spokesman said that in Gulzarpora area of South Kashmir’s Awantipora area, police attended a “terror crime” spot following reports of killing of a civilian by militants in the area.
Officers attending the spot learnt that one individual was shot dead by the militants. He has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of Dogripora aged about 40 years.
The body will be handed over to the family members after completion of medico-legal formalities, the spokesman said. Initial investigations have revealed that he was forcibly taken away by the militants and shot dead, police said.
Police have registered a case in this regard and police is on the spot to investigate the circumstances which led to this incident.
