An army man was killed and four others suffered injuries as a gunfight rages in Awneera village of Shopian in southern part of Kashmir on Saturday, police said.
A senior police official said that a soldier was killed in the ongoing gunfight.
“We have lost one soldier. Four others have been injured,” he said.
Meanwhile, several civilians were injured in clashes near the site of gunfight, reports said.
Reports said that many civilians were injured after forces resorted to pellet firing on protesters who were trying to disrupt the anti-militancy operation.
The injured were shifted to SDH hospital Yaripora and District Hospital Kulgam for treatment.
Meanwhile, a fierce exchange of fire is going on in the village where three militants are believed to be trapped.
