Srinagar

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir appealed people of the district to voluntarily cut their trees that are near the Power Distribution Network Lines.

However, he said that appeal doesn’t pertain to cover trees like Chinar, Walnut, Mulberry, Coniferous, etc, the chopping of which is prohibited under different acts, he added.

The DC said the trees near Power Distribution Network Lines break due to snowfall and as a result power service is affected; causing trouble for both administration and people.

“The sudden snapping of charged power lines poses a potential threat to life and property,” he said and urged people to remove such trees voluntarily to avoid any untoward accident.
