The National Conference Thursday while asking all secular parties and Individual MLAs to vote for Ghulam Nabi Azad to ensure his victory in Rajya Sabha elections castigated the BJP- PDP alliance calling it opportunistic & unholy.

“People who till yesterday were shouting from roof tops about not being power hungry are suddenly selling their own conscience to be on chair,” National Conference Working President and Former chief Minister Omar Abdullah said while addressing various road side rallies in Beerwah constituency.

“For chair they have sold their conscience, and have been saying in the past that they are not power hungry,” Omar said amidst sloganeering by enthusiastic people.

Omar asked all the secular parties and individuals to come together and defeat the unholy alliance between the PDP- BJP for the Rajya Sabha seat.

“Azad Sahab’s victory is important for the secular ethos of the state & every secular party & individual MLA’s should vote for him and ensure his victory,” Omar said.

He said since Azad’s victory is assured it will be interesting to see which party would want to be called the weaker partner when the result will be out for the other seats.

“The result of the election for the other Rajya Sabha Seats will indicate who will be the weaker partner of the alliance,” Omar said adding, “This will be a precursor to the events that will unfold in their future government formation and determine who will dictate terms in this alliance.”
