Srinagar: A civilian youth was injured after he was hit by a bullet on his leg during the clashes near the gunfight site in Badigam village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A civilian identified as Fasil Farooq, 24, son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Malik Pora village of Pulwama district was injured during the clashes with government forces in Badigam village.

Reports said that Fasil was hit by a bullet in his leg and he has been shifted to SMHS hospital for the treatment.

Earlier, two civilians identified as Asif Ahmed Mir of Rohomoo Pulwama and Sajad Ahmed Rather, son of Manzoor Ahmed Rather, a resident of Dooru Islamabad were killed during the clashes with government forces.

Five militants including top Hizb commander Sadam Padder and Kashmir University assistant professor Dr Mohammad Rafi were also killed in the encounter that broke out early Sunday Badigam village after the joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

Sources said that over a dozen protesters have been injured during clashes near the encounter site.
