Baigh was Jagmohan’s confidant: NC

KL Report

National Conference Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu, in a statement issued from NC Head Office in Srinagar, has said that the same Muzaffar Hussain Baigh who is waxing eloquent in condemning NC’s previous alliance with the Vajpayee led NDA was the most trusted confidant of the hardcore RSS lieutanant, Governor Jagmohan during the latter’s barbaric and communal, anti-Kashmir rule in J&K – a Governor’s rule that saw some of the most heinous massacres and extra-judicial executions take place in the State.

According to a statement issued to KNS, Mattu said that it was none other than Baigh who as Jagmohan’s Advocate General suggested and facilitated legal avenues for incarcerating the youth of Kashmir in prisons outside the State when Mufti Sayeed was the Indian Home Minister. It is a matter of record and fact that Muzaffar Hussain Baigh as Jagmohan’s Advocate General had suggested the abrogation of Article 370. Now, the same Muzaffar Baigh speaks about the importance of Article 370 to hide his complicity in Jagmohan’s excesses in Kashmir.

The NC Spokesperson also said “Narendra Modi’s recent communal tirade against National Conference and the people of Kashmir has been scripted by its State ally the PDP to create communal tension and animosity within the State”. Junaid Mattu said it was PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who sent Jagmohan to J&K despite clear objections raised by the then President of India, Ramaswamy Venkataraman. “Mufti Sahab under a pact of alliance with BJP, entered into an understanding with L. K. Advani to install Jagmohan as the Governor in the State despite his clear RSS based communal, anti-Muslim leanings. These are facts in history and Mufti Sahab is well advised to know that history doesn’t start in 1999”.

Mattu said that Modi’s recent anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim tirade had been scripted by none other than Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his party. “There is a synergy of divisive instincts between PDP and BJP now. One party is aiding the other. Their cooperation is total and complete and is a danger that needs to be acknowledged by every citizen of this State.” Junaid Mattu, condemning PDP’s unabashed endorsement of Narendra Modi said that National Conference would continue to stand as a shield of protection between Modi’s communal tendencies and the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mattu said that it was no less an important figure in PDP than its President Ms. Mehbooba Mufti who in a speech made at the National Integration Council in New Delhi said “the country was looking forward” to Narendra Modi’s leadership. “Mehbooba Ji, as is her habit went on to deny this until Sushma Swaraj of the BJP exposed Mehbooba Mufti’s lies by referring to the official archives of the NIC meetings on the Home Ministry’s website.”

Mattu said that PDP had been routed from South Kashmir and had been punished by the people for its dealings with BJP, RSS and Narendra Modi and now the time had come for PDP to face a similar electoral rout in the Srinagar and Baramulla Parliamentary Seats.
