SRINAGAR: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Baldev Prakash as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank. The approval to the new appointment came on October 26, for a period of three years, starting April 2022. The Board approval would follow.

The 54-year old banker is currently the Chief General Manager (Digital and Transaction Banking Marketing Department) of the State Bank of India since June 8, 2021.

With masters in history, the economics graduate has CAIIB diploma in Investment and Risk Management (IIBF) and another diploma in International Banking and Finance (IIBF) and has been serving the banking sector for 30 years.

In the SBI, he has evolved from a branch manager of small and large size branches, Regional Manager responsible for over 50 branches, DGM (Business and Operations) responsible for over 200 branches, General Manager (Network) in Maharashtra Circle responsible for over 400 branches and Now Chief General Manager (Digital and Transaction Banking-Marketing) responsible for framing bank-level policy and strategy for developing and providing digital and transaction banking services to all corporate clients of the Bank. Besides is this, Prakash has worked for over four years at Muscat (Sultanate of Oman) responsible for handling the remittances business including treasury operations successfully.

His tenure of three years will start when he will formally join the service. The appointment is effective from the date of taking charge or April 10, 2022, whichever is earlier, the bank said. Till he joins his duty, the current dispensation will continue. RBI has already approved the appointment and the SEBI has been informed.
