Balwant Thakur, Director, Natrang, Jammu, who is also Regional Director of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu, called on NN Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here this evening.
As per a statement Thakur briefed the Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, about the to-date status of the various projects which were commenced last year for preserving and showcasing heritage and performing art forms in the villages surrounding the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji. These programmes are supported by the Shrine Board. Thakur informed that, interalia, out of 110 groups of artists identified in the villages surrounding the Shrine, 45 of the groups had already been documented.
